Far Cry 2

Hello people, today is my review of the recently released Far Cry 2. I will review the multi player soon... enjoy

The Plot. You can choose from 8 characters, each with a different story, to take down the arms dealer, codename "The Jackal." It takes place in the African Savannah, The Jungle, and Desert areas. It is basically a civil war in Africa. The government has collapsed, leaving only two factions wanting total control. Depending on which character you choose, you can be apart of the UFLL (The United Front for Liberation and Labor) or APR (The Alliance for Popular Resistance). The two factions are at war, thanks to the Jackal who has armed both sides with guns, drugs, and ammunition. Your mission is to kill the Jackal. You can accomplish this task anyway you can, the game is completely open ended, giving yo the choice to do any missions you want. I thought that this plot was great and the open ended game play creates more freedom for the player. Terrific Job.

The Graphics. Beautiful landscape, exquisite textures, breathtaking dynamic lighting and sky make Far Cry 2 a sight not to be missed. The whole map (Which happens to be 20 sq. miles!) Is extremely detailed. And the way the sun shines through the trees creating extraordinary shadows is great. They truly are some of the best. Sure, it does not kick Crysis out of the water, but they truly are amazing. The frame rate also is silky smooth, just as silky smooth as i wanted to be. Great job, Dunia graphics engine.

The Gameplay. This is the only place where i wish they could of worked on a little more. The controls are great, and take not a second to get used to. The sound is good, gunfire sounds real, and the gunfights really get your blood pumping. However, the AI, which i heard was going to be some of the best, was not. Most of the time the gunfights start for no reason at all. And it takes for ever to kill a person, I have had to fire a whole magazine into a guy just to get his attention. But you know, it does not take away the fun-ness of the game, it just sometimes is a little frustrating. I am not saying the game play is terrible, but the iffy AI really disappointed me.

The Features. The there is basically no health packs in the game. You either have to pat yourself down when on fire, dig bullets out of your body, or inject yourself with drugs to keep you going. Though out the game you are infected with Malaria, and once in a while you have to take pills you stabilize it. The more time you keep the same gun it will begin to jam and wear out. This definitely adds to the realistic feel of the game, and i thought it overall added to the awesome-ness of the game.

RATING CHANGE: 12/18/08

Although this game is fun at the beginning, And is very visually appealing. The game play becomes repetitive, and the AI is just down right crappy. Sorry, But i give this game 3.75/5

I got it! I got it!

Well, everybody. I got Far Cry 2. It is a beautiful game, everything that i expected. But what is weird is that Game Informer gave it an 8/10! Thats not bad, but due to the game's massive map, beautiful dynamic lighting and graphics, huge weapon selection, and over 50 hours of game play? I would at least give it a 9/10. They said that the reason they gave it an 8 was because of simple gun play. Its an FPS! What other kind of gun play is there? Anyway, i will produce a review soon, and it will be awesome.

some more news...

Well, its October. And you know what that means... Far Cry 2! I am in the process of pre-ordering it. But for some reason things keep coming up. I will accomplish it, though.

Heres a super quick reveiw of the super old game, NFL Street:

Although the graphics are sub par. This game is extremely fun, sometimes i feel like i am actually out on that field. Overall, 4 out of 5.

Off the gaming topic, I just got a faded cherry red vintage mahogany Gibson Les Paul! It is awesome, because i am a person who has always wanted a Les Paul. I mean My god, its a freaking American Made Gibson with classic BurstBucker Pickups! It is almost like the '57 Custom Gibson Black Beauty Les Paul. I am naming it Marie. I love you, Marie.
